Thousands of cruise ship passengers have visited Aberdeen this year amid a record season for the city’s port.
Figures from Port of Aberdeen show there were 54,000 cruise ship passengers who visited the city in 2026.
It marks a 26% increase on 2025 figures, with 71 vessels stopping off at the port.
Almost half of the visiting ships measured 220 metres or longer, with the 294-metre Norwegian Star – one of 13 maiden calls this year – setting a new benchmark for the longest vessel to dock at the terminal.
The footfall is said to have benefitted local attractions, shops and hospitality businesses across the region.
Bob Sanguinetti, Port of Aberdeen CEO, said: “Cruise tourism is creating an ocean of opportunity for Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, bringing visitors from around the world and supporting local businesses.
“We’re working closely with VisitAberdeenshire and regional stakeholders to bring new cruise lines to the region and strengthen relationships with our existing operators.”
Port of AberdeenDuring the cruise season, VisitAberdeenshire’s Welcome to Aberdeen programme saw 42 volunteers contribute 1,250 hours.

The port was also promoted at industry events across the UK and in Gran Canaria, Miami and Reykjavik by the Port of Aberdeen and VisitAberdeenshire through the CruiseAberdeenshire partnership.
Chris Foy, CEO of VisitAberdeenshire, said: “Cruise tourism in the north-east is on the crest of a wave with the increased demand to visit our region throughout 2026.
“From the early business development stage, all the way through to the guest experience on the day, the CruiseAberdeenshire project continues to raise the profile and reputation of Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, delivering new business today and inspiring future visits for tomorrow.”
