Officers are searching for a driver who assaulted a cyclist moments after a near-collision in Dundee.

Police Scotland said the man was seen striking the victim to the face and the body, causing “severe facial injuries” which required hospital treatment.

The incident happened on Saturday at around 5.30pm in Meadowside near the Howff.

The driver is described as white, with medium-length black hair and a small moustache. He was wearing a green T-shirt and spoke with a foreign accent.

He was driving a small light metallic green car, possibly a Honda Jazz or similar, police said.

CCTV footage showed three members of the public had assisted the cyclist until an ambulance arrived while others may have recorded the incident.

Witnesses are asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 3020 of October 7.
