A seven-year-old was left in hospital after being attacked at a park in Montrose.

Police were called after receiving reports that a seven-year-old boy had been assaulted in the town’s Ferryden Park on Monday.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

His current condition is unknown.

Officers confirmed a 12-year-old boy was referred to the relevant authorities in connection with the incident.

A Police Spokesperson said: “Around 8.55am on Tuesday, April 25, 2023, police received a report a 7-year-old boy had been assaulted at Ferryden Park, Montrose on Monday, April 24, 2023.

“The boy attended Ninewells Hospital in Dundee for treatment.

“Following enquiries, a 12-year-old boy has been referred to the relevant authorities in connection with the incident.”
