Police have said they are “content” that no sexual crime took place following reports a teenager was attacked in a Fife park.

Officers had been contacted on December 6 following reports that an 18-year-old woman was attacked by a man while walking in the Cotlands Park/Meggie Den area of Kennoway.

At the time, detective inspector Graeme Dursley confirmed that the woman needed medical attention following the alleged incident.

One month on, officers have now issued a statement thanking the public for coming forward to help with their “comprehensive” investigation into the incident.

Detective inspector Graeme Dursley said: “We want to thank all of those who came forward with information and we are content that no sexual crime has occurred.

“Anyone who has been a victim of sexual crime can always contact police, we take every report seriously and will investigate thoroughly.”
