Police close road in both directions after gas leak reported

A road near Kirriemuir was closed to traffic in both directions after a gas leak was reported.

The A926 was closed between School House and Checkiefield cottages, after the leak was reported at around 2pm on Monday.

Police Scotland have urged drivers to use an alternative route and have asked the public to avoid the area.

A statement read: “The A926 is closed between School House and Checkiefield cottages following a report of a gas leak, around 2.05pm on Monday, 5 January, 2026.

“Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are asked to avoid the area.”
