Largo Leisure Holidays is preparing plans for a major development at Loch Tay Highland Lodges and Glamping Park.
A proposal of application notice went before Perth and Kinross Council’s Planning and Placemaking Committee on Wednesday, November 13.
Public consultation events are due to take place on November 29 and January 13.
The proposals being drawn up are to extend the existing Perthshire holiday park with plans including the siting of holiday and staff accommodation units, a covered event space and a classroom. Some existing units would be repositioned and two new staff accommodation units would be added to the site at Milton Morenish near Killin.
At Wednesday’s planning meeting, Highland Perthshire SNP ward councillor Mike Williamson asked for a number of issues to be given consideration including light pollution and sewage. He called for measures to be taken to prevent sewage spillages.
Bailie Williamson said: “I understand there is significant blue algae appearing on Loch Tay and anything that could be done to mitigate against that would be quite welcome.
“Landscaping: would it be possible to have appropriate trees and biodiversity, which take into consideration the changing climatic conditions?
“Finally, as part of the consideration could attention be given to potential increase in usage of sporting leisure activities on Loch Tay and the potential impact on residential amenity and the wider area?”
Public consultation events are due to take place on Friday, November 29 from 11am to 8pm and on Monday, January 13 from 11am to 8pm at the restaurant at the neighbouring Cruachan Farm Caravan Park.
