Planning chiefs have approved plans to create a soft play area and cafe at the Red Lion caravan park in Arbroath.
Under the proposals, the former swimming pool building will be transformed into a children’s soft play area and mini-golf facilities.
The pool closed in 2023 due to rising energy costs.
The revamp will also include a new restaurant and bar area, a café and a function suite.
It’s hoped the transformed leisure centre will help boost tourism in the area and entice new visitors to the site.
An accompanying supporting statement, lodged by Ander Black Design Ltd, said: “The rejuvenation and improvement of the internal space will offer a much better amenity to visitors and inhabitants of Arbroath and the wider area.
“By creating a strong identity and offering, the leisure complex will attract a renewed clientele which will benefit all surrounding businesses and amenities.”
Angus Council planning bosses approved the bid under delegated powers.
The leisure complex revamp plans follow on from previously approved proposals to expand the Red Lion Caravan Park.
This will see an additional 25 caravans built on land which was previously a playpark.
Red Lion has around 290 holiday caravans on the site already.
