The police watchdog is investigating officer contact with a teenager before he was hit by a van on the A90.
The 18-year-old was struck by a white Mercedes Sprinter just outside Kingswells village in the early hours of Sunday on May 29.
He was rushed to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and remains in a critical condition.
Police appealed for witnesses to come forward following the crash.
On Thursday, the force confirmed officers were being investigated by the Police Investigations and Review Commissioner (PIRC).
A Police Scotland spokesperson said : “The matter has been referred to PIRC and therefore it would be inappropriate to comment further.”
PIRC have been contacted for comment.
