A Perth nightclub has been forced to close for six months following a fatal flat fire in the city centre on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the city’s Scott Street at around 1.50am after officers spotted the blaze at the four-storey residential building while patrolling the area.
A total of 12 fire appliances were on the scene dealing with structural collapses at the blaze’s height.
A man was pronounced dead at the scene.
An eight-year-old girl and a 27-year-old man were taken to hospital for treatment.
Two firefighters also sustained minor injuries and received medical attention. Around 40 residents were evacuated and taken to a respite centre at the nearby Salutation Hotel.

On Monday, Perth and Kinross deputy leader, councillor Eric Drysdale, confirmed that a structural engineering contractor was brought in to assess the damage caused to the building at 41 Scott Street.
They deemed that “no part of it is salvageable” and the building will require “complete demolition”.
The owners of Perth’s That Bar and Loft night club announced that the venue will remain closed for around six months while the work at the neighbouring building is carried out.
They were informed that part of South Street will remain closed to pedestrians and traffic resulting in the business closing for around 24 weeks.
A statement read: “We are proud of the support our staff and patrons provided to residents fleeing their homes on the night of the fire.

“Thankfully the bravery and professionalism of the emergency services personnel prevented further casualties and the blaze spreading even further.
“We have been informed by Perth and Kinross Council that no part of the corner tenement can be salvaged, and demolition is already under way.
“Inevitably, this will impact on That Bar and The Loft. The authorities have warned us that part of South Street will remain closed to pedestrians and traffic and our premises must close for around 24 weeks as demolition work continues.
“This means we will be unable to provide our customary warm welcome to regulars and visitors over the summer and into the autumn.
“But as a long-standing Perth business with roots deep in the local community, we appreciate that the wellbeing of all those affected by this heart-breaking incident must be the overriding priority.”
A joint investigation into the incident has been launched by Police Scotland and Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

Chief superintendent Nicola Russell, divisional commander for Tayside said: “Our thoughts remain with all those impacted by this fire.
“Our enquiries remain ongoing to establish the cause of the fire and we would like to thank the local community for their co-operation and support and officers remain in the area.
“Road closures and cordons remain in place to ensure safety and allow enquiries to be carried out.
“We are reviewing CCTV and speaking to residents and I would appeal for anyone with any information which could assist to contact us.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 0380 of June 14, 2025.”
