A person has died on the tracks following an incident near Gleneagles railway station.
ScotRail advised passengers on Thursday morning that the line was blocked due to an incident, with journeys between Glasgow and Perth, Aberdeen and Inverness affected.
A number of police, ambulance and Network Rail vehicles were on the scene, with the station closed throughout Thursday morning.
British Transport Police confirmed one person was pronounced dead at the scene, with the death not believed to be suspicious.
A statement read: “Officers were called to a report of a casualty on the tracks just after 7am this morning near Gleneagles railway station.
“Officers and paramedics attended and sadly a person was pronounced deceased.
“The incident is not thought to be suspicious and a file will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
ScotRail said on Thursday afternoon: “Disruption caused by the emergency services dealing with an incident earlier today between Dunblane and Gleneagles has now ended.
“Services between Aberdeen and Glasgow Queen Street, between Glasgow Queen Street and Dundee, between Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness, and between Glasgow Queen Street and Perth are no longer affected by this problem.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call today at 7.13am to attend an incident at Gleneagles Railway station and dispatched one ambulance and our special operations team to the scene.”
