A person has been charged after Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court was “deliberately” set on fire.

Emergency services were called to the building on Whytescauseway around 4.50am on Thursday following reports of a door on fire.

Police confirmed that a 21-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

They are due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Friday.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 21-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with an incident of wilful fire-raising at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court, which happened around 4.50am on Thursday, February 6.

“They are due to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Friday, February 7, 2025.”
