A pensioner is fighting for her life following a crash between a van and a car in Aberdeen.

The 91-year-old woman and two other people were hurt in the smash, which happened on the A92, North Anderson Drive, at around 1pm on Tuesday.

The collision – involving a silver Citroen Relay van and blue Peugeot 208 car – happened at the junction with Ashgrove Road West.

The pensioner was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with life-threatening injuries. She remains in a critical condition.

A 60-year-old woman and a 46-year-old man were also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The road was closed in both directions for four hours, with the southbound lane closed for a further four for investigation works to take place.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to get in touch.

Road policing sergeant Alexander Bowser-Reilly said: “Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.

“I am appealing to any witnesses who may have seen the accident but have not yet spoken to police to come forward.

“I am also asking anyone with dashcam footage of the crash, or shortly before, that could assist our investigation to get in touch.

“I’d like to thank the public for their patience whilst we closed the road to respond to the crash and carry out our enquiries.”
