A pedestrian who died in hospital five days after being hit by a car in Aberdeenshire has been named.

Officers were called to Queen Street at its junction with King Street in Peterhead at around 9am on Monday, March 3, to a crash involving a pedestrian and a white Nissan X Trail.

John Bannon, 61, was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary where he died on Saturday, March 8.

Police said his next of kin had been made aware.

Enquiries are continuing to establish the exact circumstances of the incident and anyone with information is asked to contact police.

Sergeant Eoin Maxwell said: “Our thoughts are with the family of Mr Bannon and everyone involved at this very difficult time.

“We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact officers. In addition, we would appeal to anyone who may have dash-cam or CCTV footage which may assist to come forward.”
