A person has been taken to hospital after a fire took hold of a property in Aberdeenshire on Monday evening.

Emergency services were called to the property fire in Banff, and due to smoke in the area, the nearby A947 was closed.

Road users have been advised to avoid the area. Those living near to the blaze have been urged to close their doors and windows.

Images taken of the scene shows a height appliance spraying water towards the charred property which appears to have been destroyed by the flames.

Five fire appliances are still in attendance at the incident, however, it is believed the blaze has been extinguished.

One person was taken to hospital to receive treatment for smoke inhalation.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We are currently attending a house fire in Banff, Aberdeenshire.

“Road closures are in place on the A947 due to smoke. Please avoid the area where possible.

“Nearby residents are advised to keep windows and doors closed.”
