One person has been injured and a street in Aberdeen has been cordoned off after a spillage of “potentially hazardous materials”.
The casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service as a result of the incident on South Esplanade Street in the Torry area of the city.
The street has been cordoned off, with three fire appliances and specialist hazmat (hazardous materials) resources were mobilised to the scene.
Police said there is no threat to the wider public with the spillage being in a confined area.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended South Esplanade East, Aberdeen on Thursday, 22 August, 2024, where a substance had spilled on the ground.
“The spillage was within a confined area and there was no threat to the wider public.
“The spillage has been cleared.”
STV NewsA Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 1.18pm on Thursday, 22 August, to an incident on South Esplanade East, Aberdeen, involving potentially hazardous materials.
“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and specialist hazmat resources to the scene.
“One casualty was handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Firefighters have now left the scene after ensuring the area was safe.”
