One person was airlifted to hospital and two people were cut from a vehicle a after a two-car crash in Moray.
Emergency services closed the B9013 south of Burghead between the A96 and College of Roseisle after a crash involving two cars around 5.50pm on Sunday.
One person was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and another was taken by ambulance.
Three people were taken to Dr Gray’s Hospital following the collision.
Firefighters cut two people from a car before leaving the scene.
Ambulance crews deployed a paramedic response unit and a pre-hospital immediate care and trauma team.
Police said on social media on Sunday: “The B9013, south of Burghead, is closed between the A96 and College of Roseisle following a two-car crash which was reported around 5.50pm on Sunday, January 12, 2025.
“Emergency services are in attendance.
“Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternative route.”
A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service said: “We received a call at 5.54pm on Sunday, January 12 to attend a road traffic collision on the B9013, Newton.
“We dispatched two ambulances, one air ambulance, one paramedic response unit (PRU) and one Pre-Hospital Immediate Care and Trauma (PICT) team to the scene.
“We transported two patients to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary – one by road and one by air ambulance – and three patients to Dr Gray’s Hospital.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 5.57pm on Sunday, January 12 to reports of road traffic collision involving two cars on the B9013 south of Burghead in Moray.
“Operations Control mobilised two fire appliances to the scene.
“There were five casualties in total, and two casualties were extracted by firefighters and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.
“Crews then left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”
