Police say there is “no evidence of any criminality” after a dog was found dead wrapped in a child’s dressing gown and blanket.

Police were called to the Baldovie Road area of Dundee at around 5.55pm on Monday following the discovery.

The dog, a small male adult lurcher, was found wrapped in a child’s unicorn-design robe, puppy pad, and blanket inside a black bag in a wheelie bin in the Dighty Burn.

The animal was chipped but the chip is not believed to have been registered.

Police Scotland has confirmed that the incident is not being treated as a criminal offence following their enquiries.

They are still trying to locate the owner of the abandoned pet.
