Person cut from vehicle and taken to hospital after crash closes M90 

Emergency services were called before 8am on Wednesday to a crash involving three vehicles on the major road near Bridge of Earn.

A person has been taken to hospital after being cut from a vehicle following a crash which closed the M90 at rush hour.

Emergency services were called before 8am on Wednesday to a crash involving three vehicles on the major road near Bridge of Earn.

Two ambulances, a paramedic response unit, and a specialist operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service sent three appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene, with one casualty cut from being trapped in their vehicle.

The patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital in Dundee, and another was assessed and discharged.

The motorway was closed between junctions 6 and 9 heading north, with drivers reporting traffic at a standstill.

The on-slips at junctions 6 and 7 were also shut.

Traffic Scotland confirmed that all lanes had reopened and no further delays were expected around 10.15am.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We were alerted at 7.54am on Wednesday, November 5, to reports of a road traffic collision involving three vehicles on the M90 northbound near Bridge of Earn.

“Operations Control mobilised three fire appliances and a heavy rescue unit to the scene, where firefighters assisted emergency service partners.

“One trapped casualty was rescued and handed into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 07.59 to attend a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the M90, near Bridge of Earn.

“Two ambulances, a paramedic response unit, and a specialist operations response team (SORT) were dispatched to the scene.

“One patient was transported to Ninewells Hospital, and one patient was assessed and discharged at the scene.”

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
