A man is fighting for his life in hospital after a serious motorcycle crash in Aberdeenshire.

The incident, which involved one motorbike, happened at around 2.00pm on Wednesday, on the B9022 Portsoy to Gordonstown road at the old railway bridge.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 70-year-old man, was taken to the Aberdeen Royal Infirmary by helicopter ambulance where he remains in critical condition.

The road was closed for around nine and a half hours while crash investigations were carried out and fully reopened at around 11.45pm on Wednesday.

Sergeant Sarah Ritchie said: “Our enquiries into this crash are ongoing and I would appeal to anyone with any information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I would ask anyone who was on this road around the time and who may have witnessed the crash or have dash cam footage to contact us on 101 quoting reference 2039 of August 28, 2024.”
