A man has died after a crash on a major road in the northeast of Scotland.

He was riding a motorbike on the A96 Aberdeen to Inverness Road at Keith when the incident happened at 7.45pm on Thursday.

The 69-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene and police said his next of kin had been informed.

There were no other vehicles involved, Police Scotland said.

The A96 was closed while officers carried out a collision investigation.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the crash or have dashcam footage of the incident.
