A man who abused five different women over 14 years has been jailed for his “absolutely reprehensible” actions.

William Buick, 39, was told on Thursday that he would serve three years and nine months for his conduct between 2010 and 2024.

A jury at the High Court in Dundee heard how one woman was left permanently disfigured after being hit with a mobile phone.

Another had her life endangered as she was choked.

Buick, of Broughty Ferry, Dundee, also recorded two women performing a sex act at a party in Dundee without their consent.

Jurors saw CCTV footage from a hotel in Broughty Ferry which captured the moment he assaulted another woman.

He was found guilty of nine separate offences following a trial before judge Lord Summers.

Buick was charged with multiple rapes but was found not guilty of those allegations.

Buick appeared for sentencing before Lord Summers, who told him he would be supervised by the authorities for 12 months following his release from custody.

Passing sentence, Lord Summers said: ‘What you did was absolutely reprehensible.

“Given the nature of the offences, it is necessary to protect the public from you so I will impose a period of post release supervision for you. This will be 12 months.

“I need to tell you that should you not comply with the terms of the order, you may be brought back before me and may be returned to prison.”

During proceedings this year, jurors heard how Buick felt “deceived” by one of his victims after learning she took part in sex work.

Their relationship was described as “volatile” and Buick subjected her to a torrent of verbal abuse and threats.

On one occasion, he seized and choked her neck to the danger of her life, before repeatedly punching her during another incident.

Buick also secretly recorded the same woman and her female friend engaging in a sex act with him at a party in Dundee. He showed the illicitly obtained footage to others.

Another partner would go on to suffer abuse from Buick, including when she was left severely injured and “disfigured” from being struck on the head with a mobile phone.

She would also be assaulted at the Woodlands Hotel and Jolly’s Hotel, the latter of which was captured on CCTV.

Buick’s first two victims were injured in attacks in 2010 and 2011, respectively.

The fifth woman, whom he met on Tinder, had her mobile phone scanned by Buick, who claimed nude images from a man popped up on her device while he was looking at it.

He behaved in a threatening or abusive manner towards her.

On Thursday, Lord Summers also placed Buick on the Sex Offenders Register for five years.
