A man is in hospital with serious injuries after being struck by a car in a hit and run in Fife.
Police are appealing for information following the incident in Kirkcaldy on Wednesday on Winifred Street, at its junction with Hendry Road, at around 5.50pm.
Officers said a small red car struck a male pedestrian and left the scene prior to police arriving.
The pedestrian, a 54-year-old man, was taken to Victoria Hospital where medical staff describe his injuries as serious.
Enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and police are checking for any relevant CCTV footage which may provide more information on the red car.
Sergeant Tom Aitken said: “Our enquiries are ongoing and I am appealing for anyone who witnessed this incident or who has any information which could assist to contact us.
“I would also ask anyone who was in this area around the time and who may have dash cam footage or private CCTV that may help to get in touch.”
