Man in hospital following tenement fire as police launch probe

Four fire engines were sent to put out the fire that took hold in a building in Dundee.

Police have launched an investigation into a tenement fire in Dundee that left one man hospital.

Emergency services were called to reports of a blaze at a building on Kinghorne Road at around 7.43pm on Thursday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said four engines were sent to the scene.

Police Scotland confirmed one man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

A spokesperson for the force said: “We received a report of a fire at a property on Kinghorne Road, Dundee, around 8.10pm on Thursday.

“Emergency services attended and one man was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment.

“A joint investigation is ongoing with the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service.

“The road was closed and has since re-opened.”
