A man has been charged after a shop in Aberdeenshire was raided at knifepoint in a ‘frightening’ incident on Saturday afternoon.
Police were called to Strait Path, in Banff after a man entered a premises, threatened staff members with a bladed weapon, and caused damage to the shop before leaving.
Police said a 34-year-old man who was traced nearby a short time later had been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.
He is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday July 13.
Detective Sergeant Richard Cooper said: “This was frightening for those involved but I can confirm it’s being treated as an isolated incident.
“We’d like to thank members of the public who made us aware and provided information to police.”
