A man has died after he was struck by a taxi on the A92 in Aberdeen during the early hours of Thursday morning.

Emergency services were called to the A92 just north of Murcar at around 3.10am after reports of a crash involving a Ford Taxi people carrier and a pedestrian.

The 41-year-old male pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin is aware.

The road was closed to allow for investigations to be carried out and is expected to remain closed for a number of hours.

Road Policing Sergeant Lesley Morrison said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the man who has died and we’re offering them support at this difficult time.

“It’s vital we find out exactly what happened and I’m appealing for the public’s help. Were you in the area around the time and saw what happened? Did you see a pedestrian on the A92 and have information which may help? Do you have dash-cam footage from the area which has captured anything significant? If you do, please get in touch.”

Those with information are urged to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 0317 of April 23
