A man has died after he fell from a cliff in Aberdeenshire on Friday.

Emergency services were called to the Bullers of Buchan, a popular walking area near Cruden Bay, at around 5.30pm.

A 61-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Detectives are not treating the death as suspicious. A report is due to be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We were called to a report of a man having fallen from a cliff in the Bullers of Buchan area near Cruden Bay around 5.30pm on Friday, June 12, 2026.

“Emergency services attended however the 61-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. Next of kin is aware.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course.”
