Man charged over attempted murder after cyclist struck by car in Aberdeen

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder after a teenage cyclist was struck by a car in Aberdeen.

Police received a report of a cyclist being struck by a white BMW on Rousay Drive around 6pm on Friday evening after travelling from the Lang Stracht area.

The 19-year-old man was taken to hospital for treatment. The road was closed for a period of time to allow enquiries to be carried out.

A 37-year-old man is due to appear at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Monday.

Sergeant Scott Cooper said: “We are continuing to carry out enquiries following this incident and we are appealing to anyone who was in the area around this time to contact us with any information.

“In addition, any witnesses or anyone with dash-cam footage is asked to come forward as this may be able to assist.”
