Man charged after Aberdeen’s Ojo ‘assaulted’ at Dundee United match SNS Group

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault of an Aberdeen Football Club player during the Dons’ match against Dundee United.

The 35-year-old man is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court following the reported incident at Tannadice on Saturday afternoon.

Dundee United confirmed it was investigating after Aberdeen midfielder Funso Ojo was sent off following the alleged assault.

The Belgian player was allegedly shoved by a fan at Tannadice during the Premiership clash.

A spokesperson for Dundee United said: “Dundee United can confirm that an investigation has commenced into an incident during today’s game. We will make no further comment at this time.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Following an investigation into an incident which took place yesterday (Saturday, November 20, 2021) during the match between Dundee United Football Club and Aberdeen Football Club at Tannadice Park in Dundee, a 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the assault of an Aberdeen Football Club player.

“The man has been released on undertaking to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court at a later date.”
