A man has been arrested in Aberdeen in connection with the shooting of a teenage boy in Sheffield.

A 16-year-old boy is fighting for his life in hospital after being shot in the city’s London Road on November 24.

Police Scotland carried out a raid at CitiHouse Aberdeen West End around 8pm on Saturday in connection with the incident.

Guests were evacuated, and Great Western Road was closed to traffic for several hours while armed police searched the property.

A 26-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

South Yorkshire Police have also arrested two boys, aged 15 and 16, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder and a 40-year-old man on suspicion of assisting an offender.

Detective chief inspector Emma Knight of South Yorkshire Police, said: “Our investigation into this shooting is continuing at pace and I want to thank everyone who has contacted us with information so far.

“Your support really is crucial as we strive to secure justice for the injured child and his family and put an end to gun crime in South Yorkshire. Collectively, we will not tolerate the risk these weapons pose to our communities.

“This incident understandably caused a lot of concern and heartache in the local communities, and our thoughts remain with the child’s family.

“He is 16 years of age and should have been looking forward to his future but now, his life has been put on pause as he remains in a critical condition following this horrific act of violence.

“I continue to urge anyone who has information that they think may be relevant to our investigation to please get in touch if you haven’t already done so.”
