A man has been arrested and charged with an alleged disturbance after protests targeting accommodation housing asylum seekers in Dundee.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged for a disturbance in the Hilltown Area, on Reid Square, on Sunday, January 4, and in connection with communication offences which happened on Monday, January 5.

He was due to appear in Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, January 6.

Chief inspector Colin Echevarria said: “A 38-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with a disturbance in the Hilltown area of Dundee on Sunday, January 4, 2026 and communication offences which happened on Monday, January 5, 2026.

“He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Tuesday, January 6, 2026.”

It comes after two men were arrested and charged for alleged disturbances, after protests targeting accommodation housing asylum seekers in Dundee on December 28 and 29.

Police Scotland said inquiries remain ongoing following the protest, which targeted what are believed to be flats housing asylum seekers in Reid Square.
