A man has appeared in court charged with allegedly assaulting and racially abusing a restaurant owner in Forfar.
Ross Torrance is accused of entering Dash of Bari on the town’s East High Street last Saturday, issuing threats, swearing, repeatedly uttering racist remarks and refusing to leave.
The 37-year-old is also alleged to have repeatedly punched the owners head and body, repeatedly kick on him and spit in his face. This is deemed to be racially aggravated.
On the same day, Torrance was alleged to have breached his bail conditions by approaching an individual he was not allowed to contact and enter their home.
He is alleged to have acted in an aggressive manner and throw items around the living room of the property.
Upon the arrest made on Saturday, Torrance reportedly continued to act in an aggressive manner and utter racist remarks.
While at Dundee Police Station, the accused reportedly kicked and spat at a police officer.
No plea was made, and Torrance was bailed at Forfar Sheriff Court until his next appearance on August 11.
