A man has appeared in court charged with the murder of Brian Low in Aberfeldy.

David Campbell appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday where he faced a charge of murder and attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Court documents state that the 75-year-old had previously shown “ill will and malice” towards Brian Low before “shooting him on the head and body with a shotgun” on February 16.

It adds that Campbell then concealed the shotgun in an unknown location in an attempt to defeat the ends of justice between February 16 and May 24.

Campbell made no plea and was remanded in custody. He will appear before court again next week.

Brian Low’s body was discovered alongside his black Labrador on February 17 in the Pitillie area on the outskirts of Aberfeldy.

The 65-year-old’s death was initially assessed as being “non-suspicious and medical-related” but it was confirmed six days later that he had been fatally shot.

Mr Low had worked as a groundskeeper at the Edradynate Estate for more than 20 years until his retirement in February 2023.
