Man and woman rescued after becoming stranded on rock near beach

A rescue mission was launched on Sunday after a man and woman became stranded on a rock near an Aberdeenshire beach.

RNLI Montrose was alerted to two people being cut off by the tide at Hen Rock near St Cyrus by HM Coastguard at around 3.42pm.

The all weather lifeboat ‘Ian Grant Smith’ and inshore lifeboat ‘Margaret Olive’ were dispatched to the scene to assist the coastguard and police.

HM Coastguard couldn’t reach the man and woman, who were located 10ft up the rock.

The inshore lifeboat crew managed to get close before crew member, Mari, disembarked to assist the two stranded people.

They were taken ashore and passed into the care of the coastguard. Both the man and the woman were safe and well.
