A man has been airlifted while two more have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A93.
Emergency services were called to the road between Dinnet and Aboyne just after midday on Friday, following reports of a crash involving a white Audi A5 and a red Renault Symbioz.
Two fire engines, police, an ambulance, and an air ambulance were sent to the scene.
The driver of the Renault, a 73-year-old man, was airlifted to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where his condition is described as serious.
The driver of the Audi, a 66-year-old man, and the passenger of the Renault, an 81-year-old woman, were also taken to hospital.
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 12.28pm to attend a road traffic collision on the A93 near Aboyne.
“We dispatched two ambulances, two special operations response teams (SORT), an air ambulance and a critical care team to the scene. We transported three patients to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
The road, a busy route through Royal Deeside, remains closed in both directions due to the crash.
Sergeant Pete Henderson said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“We’d also ask anyone with dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1476 of Friday, 21 August, 2026.”
