A man is on trial accused of killing his wife, who jumped from a bridge and was run over.
Lee Milne, 39, is alleged to have assaulted Kimberley Milne, 28, in Dundee on July 27, 2023.
Court papers state Milne drove at speed, performed a handbrake turn, revved the engine of his car, spun the wheels and drove erratically while she was in the car with him.
It is claimed that Milne blocked her path with his car, shouted at her, and demanded that she get back into the car.
Milne is stated to have placed his hands at either side of her head against a wall and acted in an aggressive and intimidating manner towards her.
He is further claimed to have repeatedly shouted at her, thrown an item against a wall near her, stood over her, seized hold of her and pulled her, caused her distress, fear and alarm, and followed her.
The charge says that as a consequence of this, Kimberley climbed the barrier of an overpass and jumped down onto the eastbound A90 Kingsway West, Dundee, and was struck by motor vehicles.
Kimberley was stated to be so severely injured that she died, and Milne killed her.
It lastly claimed he had previously evinced malice and ill will towards her.
Milne faces a second charge of domestic abuse at properties in Dundee between January 2022 and July 2023.
The court heard from one of Kimberley’s sisters, who claimed that she was initially close with her.
The sibling stated that she did not know when she met Milne.
The witness claimed that her sister saw Milne as her “knight in shining armour” and compared the relationship to a “horror story.”
However, she stated her relationship with Kimberley changed after her relationship started with Milne.
She said: “I didn’t see or text her as much.
“There were a lot of things I think she just wasn’t wanting to say to me.
“She was ashamed by what was going on in the relationship.”
The woman told jurors that she believed her sister did not want to get married as “it was not something she aimed to accomplish.”
The witness further stated that Kimberley could not leave amid claims Milne tried to put her in debt.
She said that her sister, who suffered from mental health issues, had attempted to take her life, but she would call for help.
The witness claimed that Milne put “gobbledygook” in her head when it came to her family.
She told jurors that she became aware that Kimberley had died when their sister informed her.
She said: “We don’t know what happened, and we still don’t really know.”
Kimberley’s other sister earlier told prosecutor Alex Prentice KC that she had seen injuries to her neck and arm.
Mark Stewart KC, defending, asked the witness if her sister would self-harm significantly, and she replied: “Yes.”
The advocate later suggested that Kimberley attempted suicide on the Tay Bridge from Dundee to Fife in 2020.
The witness could recall the incident but not the year that it took place.
She later stated that the pair met in 2022 and Kimberley was “besotted” with Milne.
The witness claimed that her sister and Milne fell out the day after they got married.
It was stated that Milne had someone else in the house.
She recalled the pair being “on and off” after this.
The trial continues on Thursday before Judge Lady Drummond.
