A major search is under way after a person was seen entering the water in Dundee in the early hours of the morning.
Emergency services were called to the Riverside Esplanade around 3.40am on Wednesday following a report of concern for a person.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 3.40am on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, we received a report of concern for a person who entered the water near Riverside Esplanade, Dundee.
STV News“Emergency services remain in attendance, and extensive searches are ongoing.”
STV NewsA spokesperson for HM Coastguard said: “HM Coastguard is coordinating the response to an incident reported at about 3.45am on 8 April at the Tay Road Bridge.
“An HM Coastguard helicopter was sent as well as Coastguard Rescue Teams from St Andrews and Arbroath, and two RNLI lifeboats from Broughty Ferry. Police Scotland is attending.”
“HM Coastguard stood down at about 11.30am, pending any new information.”
