Part of the M90 has been closed after a vehicle fire brought traffic to a “standstill” in Perth.

Traffic Scotland confirmed that the northbound carriageway was shut at Friarton Bridge due to the blaze at around 6.41pm on Tuesday.

Updates around 7.40pm said that traffic is at a “standstill” and is tailing back to Bridge of Earn, and from M90 at Broxden.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Services told STV News it was alerted to the blaze at around 6pm.

Two fire engines and ten firefighters were sent to the scene.

Traffic confirmed around 10pm that the road was cleared after services finished cleaning up a fuel spill from the fire.

Police Scotland has been contacted for comment.
