A hunt has been launched to trace a suspect after bushes were “deliberately” set on fire beside a footpath in Kinross.

Emergency services were alerted called to the scene of the blaze near the Burleigh Sands car park at around 9am on Sunday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service extinguished the fire and there were no reports of injuries.

Officers said the incident is being treated as “wilful” and is urging anyone with information to come forward.

Police are searching for a suspect described as a white man, aged 17 to 18, 5ft 10 inches tall.

He was last seen wearing all black clothing and carrying a black rucksack.

Police Scotland is urging anyone with information regarding the blaze to come forward.

Constable Jamie Arthur said: “The fire was set alight in an area of bushes and could easily have spread. I would urge anyone with information about what happened to speak to officers.

“If you were in the area at the time and saw anything suspicious or have dashcam footage which may have captured something of significance then please contact us.

“Anyone with information should contact 101 quoting reference 1047 of May 18, 2025.”
