Police launch manhunt for inmate who absconded from prison

Police have launched a manhunt after an inmate absconded from a Dundee prison.

John Paul Lynch, a prisoner at HMP Castle Huntly, was reported missing to police around 6.45pm on Thursday.

The 45-year-old is described as white, around 5ft 7ins and of average build, with short dark brown hair. 

He has a distinctive scar on the left side of his face and when he was last seen, he was clean shaven and wearing glasses, a cream jacket, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police said Lynch is originally from Paisley and may return to the area.

If seen, members of the public should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 3117 of Thursday March 3.
