A hunt has been launched for two masked men after a break-in forced an Aberdeenshire town shop to close.

Greens of Inverurie was targeted by thieves overnight in the early hours of Saturday.

The store, on the town’s North Street, said it had to close due to “unforeseen circumstances” but reopened later shortly after.

Police Scotland said the incident happened between 3am and 4am.

The first suspect, a male, was wearing a navy hat, a black jacket with grey sleeves, black tracksuit bottoms which were grey at the rear, a black face mask, and blue latex gloves.

The second suspect, also male, was wearing a black jacket, black tracksuit bottoms, a navy balaclava, and black gloves. He was carrying a black carrier bag.

Sergeant Mark Adam said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.

“We’d also ask anyone with private CCTV or dash-cam footage which could assist our enquiries to come forward.”
