Hunt for man wearing balaclava after woman sexually assaulted in park

Officers are gathering CCTV footage following the attack in in Powrie Park in Dundee.

Police are hunting for a man after a woman was sexually assaulted in a park in Dundee.

At around 7.25pm on Wednesday, a 46-year-old woman was in Powrie Park near to Cheviot Crescent in the Fintry area, when a man wearing a black balaclava approached her and sexually assaulted her. 

The suspect is described as being around 6ft tall with a heavy athletic build and broad shoulders.

At the time of the attack he was wearing a balaclava, black zip-up hoodie, black jogging bottoms and black and white trainers.

He made off in the direction of Jack Martin Way.

Officers are gathering CCTV footage and reviewing it for any additional information.

They are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area around this time, particularly a dog walker and a man on an electric bike who were seen in the park.

Detective inspector Graeme Wishart said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch. 

“If anyone saw or noticed anything suspicious, or has any information on the suspect, please do get in touch with us. In particular, anyone with a dash cam is asked to check the footage as it may have captured images which could assist the investigation.”
