Hunt for man on e-scooter after teen in wheelchair struck in hit-and-run 

A 17-year-old male was crossing the road in his wheelchair when he was struck by a male riding an e-scooter who made off from the scene.

Police are hunting for an e-scooter rider who failed to stop after striking a teenager in a wheelchair while he crossed a road in Dundee.

Police say the crash happened around 10.15pm on Saturday on Strathmore Avenue opposite the Travelodge hotel.

A 17-year-old male was crossing the road in his wheelchair when he was struck by a male riding an e-scooter.

The rider did not stop and made off in the direction of Lawton Road.

The 17-year-old wheelchair user was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment of a serious injury. 

The man on the e-scooter is described as wearing dark clothing and a dark knitted hat.

Inspector Jamie Allen said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace this male, and we would ask him to come forward.

“I am also urging anyone who was in the area at the time to please get in touch or has any knowledge as to the identity of the e-scooter rider.

“If you have private CCTV or dash-cam footage that would also assist our enquiries, please contact us.”

Anyone with information should contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident number 4202 of May 10.
