Police are searching for a driver who failed to stop for officers before crashing into parked cars in Carnoustie.

The red Ford Focus failed to stop in the Burnside Area of Arbroath around 5pm on Tuesday.

It then collided with parked vehicles on High Street, Carnoustie, and was found on fire around 6.45pm in the Balmachie Road area.

The fire was put out by the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, and there were no reported injuries.

Detectives are now trying to trace the driver and are appealing for anyone who may have captured it on dashcam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Mike Guild, of Tayside Road Policing unit, said: “Our enquiries are ongoing to trace the driver and passenger of the Ford Focus and I am asking anyone who knows them or where they went, to get in touch.

“I am also asking anyone driving in Arbroath and Carnoustie at the time, including along the A92, to check any dash-cam footage they have and make contact with us if something has been captured that could assist with our investigation.”

Anyone who can help is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 2313 of Tuesday, June 30, 2026
