A motorist has been banned from the road and fined after attempting to drive from North Wales to Aberdeen while more than five times over the drink-drive limit.

Stephen McNamee, from Holyhead, was only stopped by officers in Stirling during his attempt at the 450-mile journey.

The 44-year-old appeared at Stirling Sheriff Court on November 15 after officers were alerted to erratic driving from his vehicle on the M80.

He was disqualified from driving for 16 months and fined £400, police confirmed.
