Police in Moray are appealing for information after a herring gull was shot and killed.

The incident was reported to have happened at around 6pm on Wednesday May 3 in the Letterfourie Gardens area of Buckie.

All birds including gulls are protected by law under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 and cannot be killed unless a licence has been issued by NatureScot.

Wildlife crime and environmental officer, constable Corbett said: “Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this incident to come forward.”

Anyone with information on the incident is urged to contact police on 101 quoting the reference CR/0093969/23, or using the ‘Contact Us’ form on the Police Scotland website.
