A hair salon business is set to operate from a Dunfermline garden after planning permission was granted.
The application to Fife Council sought permission to erect an outbuilding in the garden for use as a salon at Colton of Pittencrieff House on Colton Terrace.
A report by planners explained that the small-scale business would operate within the curtilage of a residential property but would not “significantly alter” the overall character of the site.
It said the part-time hair studio would have a maximum of one client at a time and operate between 10am and 6pm on three to four days a week.
“It is considered that this scale of operation with one customer visiting the outbuilding at a time would result in an amenity impact that would not be significant and could be considered similar to the impact that could come from a domestic use of the garden,” continued the report.
The plans were approved with a condition that the business would operate on the operating arrangements laid out in the application unless otherwise agreed by Fife Council.
An additional condition was also attached that the outbuilding should not be sold, leased, rented, or otherwise disposed of separately from the main dwelling or used by any external operator or third party for business purposes.
