A Frank Sinatra superfan has travelled from Dundee to Los Angeles to fulfil his and his late wife’s lifelong dream.
Jimmy Moir, 82, made the musical pilgrimage after he was invited by the crooner’s record label Capitol Records.
It’s a love affair that began with the other love of his life – his late wife Gladys.
“I was lucky, I had love from a young age,” Jimmy said.

“From that day on, we were together for the next 62 years.”
Gladys introduced Jimmy to Sinatra’s music, and the crooner became his singing hero. Together, the pair vowed to visit Capitol Records in LA.

Jimmy honoured his wife’s wishes, and after writing back and forth with the record label, they invited him to Capitol Tower.

It’s where Sinatra recorded some of Jimmy’s favourite songs
“To think he sang in that microphone, all these CDs I’ve got in the corner from Capitol Records,” he said.

“I stood where Frank recorded all his great stuff. It was surreal. To me he’s the greatest entertainer of popular music there’s ever been.
“I really hope the younger generation looks up Frank Sinatra and sees what they’re missing.”
SuppliedAs he visited the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Jimmy was experiencing his own viral moment as his story was shared online.
During the trip, Jimmy was thinking of Gladys the whole time.
“I really wish she’d been by my side,” he said.
