Police have seized four dogs following an attack which left a pet dead and a woman injured.
Emergency services were called to High Street and Burns Begg Street in Kinross at around 2.30pm on Sunday following reports of three dogs being attacked by four other dogs.
One of the dogs died, and two others were taken to the vet for treatment. A woman sustained minor injuries after falling and was treated at the scene.
David McIllroy was walking pointer Hugo, seven, and his mum Molly, ten, with his wife when three dogs ran out of a side street and lunged at them.
Molly suffered serious injuries, including ten lacerations to her head and body. It’s understood that Molly and Hugo were attacked after the first dog was mauled.
Officers have since seized the four dogs believed to have escaped from a property before they targeted a smaller dog and its female owner.
An investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident is still ongoing.
Chief Inspector Greg Burns said: “The dogs were contained within the property before being safely removed to ensure no further risk to the public.
“Officers are following a positive line of enquiry.”
