Flood alerts have been issued for the north-east of Scotland, with heavy rainfall expected on Monday night.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA) said a band of persistent heavy rain could lead to flooded roads in the area, as well as disruption to transport networks.

The alerts have been issued for Aberdeen City and Aberdeenshire, Easter Ross and Great Glen, Caithness and Sutherland, and Findhorn, Nairn, Moray and Speyside.

The warnings come just days after many parts of Scotland experienced heavy snow overnight.

Hundreds of people reported hearing “extraordinarily loud thundersnow” during the night in Edinburgh, with many reporting the noise to police.
