The brother-in-law of Scotland’s First Minister has appeared in court accused of abduction and extortion in a case linked to a man who died after falling from a window.

Ramsay El-Nakla, the brother of Humza Yousaf’s wife, Nadia El-Nakla, was the fourth person to be arrested after the death in Dundee.

Emergency services were called to Morgan Street in Dundee on January 10 after reports that a 36-year-old had fallen from a window.

He was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment to serious injuries where he died a week later on Wednesday, January 17.

On Tuesday, El-Nakla was arrested and charged with abduction and extortion. He appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court on the same day.

The 36-year-old made no plea and was released on bail.

He will next appear in court on a date still to be determined.

It comes after police confirmed a 38-year-old woman had been charged with culpable homicide on Thursday, April 4, in connection with the incident.

Jennifer Souter appeared at Dundee Sheriff Court and made no plea and was remanded in custody..

Stephen Stewart, 50, and Victoria McGowan, 41, appeared at the same court on Thursday charged with abduction and extortion.

They both did not enter a plea and were both released on bail.
